  • Metropoliya Group worked out the Terms of Reference to involve the Consultant for provision of consulting services in a correspondence to the requirements of IBRD within the "Power Transmission Project", dealing with:
    • rehabilitation of 220-750 kV transformer substations;
    • reinforcement of the Dniester HAPP interconnection grid;
    • stabilization of the Crimean Power System.

  • Metropoliya Group has elaborated the Section "Guideline for Connection of Power Facilities to the Grid and Users’ Access to UPS of Ukraine" of the task "Power Grid Code of Ukraine".

  • To facilitate Synchronization of Ukrainian Power Grid and ENTSO-E (UCTE) Metropoliya Group conducted a survey "Research and Analysis of UCTE Requirements for Coordinated Planning of the Modes". This project implied the following scope of works:
    • analysis of the effective Law of Ukraine regarding coordinated planning of modes and its compliance with the UCTE Operational Handbook;
    • considering the planning of the operational modes, determination of the transmission capacity, daily forecasts of operational constraints, and analysis of N-1 reliability, development of recommendations and suggestions on measures to harmonize Ukrainian regulations with UCTE standards.

  • Metropoliya Group implemented a pre-design works of the 330 kV Chornobyl NPP – Severna OHTL interconnection to the 330 kV outdoor switchgear of the 750 kV Kyivska substation project, including:
    • table top design and options verification for the 330 kV Chornobyl NPP – Pivnichna OHTL connection routes to the 330 kV outdoor switchgear of the 750 kV Kyivska substation and their indication on land use plans;
    • obtaining relevant conclusions and approvals from land users, landholders, and concerned entities regarding the location of connection lines from the 330 kV Chornobyl NPP – Pivnichna OHTL to the 330 kV outdoor switchgear of 750 kV Kyivska substation;
    • arranging the land allocation certificates to define suitable sites for placing connections of the 330 kV Chornobyl NPP – Pivnichna OHTL to the 330 kV switchgear of the 750 kV Kyivska substation.

  • Metropoliya Group acts as a local consultant of the project concerning the development of regional power grid of the Southern Region of Ukraine to lift restrictions on such networks and provide more efficient and reliable power supply in the region and accelerate the integration of solar and wind power plants into UPS of Ukraine for the period till 2020, responsible for research dealing with network design and the solving of cartographic and environmental issues.

  • Metropoliya Group implemented a scientific and technical study "Research and Development activities in the power sector", including:
    • The scheme of the prospective development of the Southern PS for the period up to 2015 with the prospective to 2020;
    • The scheme of the prospective development of the Western PS for the period up to 2015 with the prospective to 2020;
    • Updating of the prospective development scheme for the Central PS for the period up to 2015 with the prospective to 2020.
    The aim of works is to develop feasibility studies of reliable power supply schemes for consumers of the Southern, Western and Central power systems together with the development of the transmission grids of the UPS of Ukraine and schemes of 110-150 kV grids development in the PS’s regions.
    Works determined the development direction for 220-750 kV and 110-150 kV grids of the Southern, Western and Central power systems, scope of new construction, rehabilitation and technical re-equipping of the existing grid facilities, the directions of the technical upgrading of the protection and power management systems with consideration of the up-to-date technical and scientific achievements and modernization of existing emergency automatic units and application of new ones.

  • Metropoliya Group implemented a scientific and technical study "Adjustment of the prospective development scheme of the UPS of Ukraine for the period up to 2010 with the prospective to 2015".
    The work identified directions of 220-750 kV networks and transit networks 110-150 kV development within the UPS of Ukraine, the scope of new construction, rehabilitation and technical re-equipping of the existing grid facilities, directions for the technical upgrade of protection and power management systems with consideration of up-to-date technical and scientific achievements and modernization of existing emergency automatic units and application of new ones.

  • Metropoliya Group has developed FS on reliable operation of 110-330 kV electrical grids at south-western part in Odessa Region during implementation of plans Moldelectrica SE which were dedicated to power blocks provision by Moldova power station for radial work with Romania including the transfering of 400/300 kV AT of Moldova power station and 400/100 kV AT to 400/100 Vulkaneshty S/S based on setting into operation of following objects: 110 kV S/S 's Sonyachna – Reni, Sonyachna – Kiliya, Prydunayska tie stations.

  • Metropoliya Group performed scientific and technological work on Elaboration of electrical networks prospective development schemes of Mykolaivoblenergo PJSC's Western, Eastern, Southern, Northern and Central districts for the period from 1 January 2016 to 1 January 2026 and preparation of feasibility studies to mentioned schemes. The work determined network development directions, reconstruction scopes and technical re-equipment of electrical network operating objects, directions of technical re-equipment of protection devices and network operation modes control units, measurements on existing networks reconstruction.

  • Metropoliya Group performed scientific and technological work on Elaboration of electrical networks prospective development scheme of Khmelnytskoblenergo PJSC for the period from 1 January 2016 to 1 January 2026 and preparation of feasibility study to mentioned scheme. The work determined directions of Khmelnytskoblenergo PJSC network development, including network in Khmelnytskyi city, reconstruction and technical equipment scopes of electrical network operating objects, directions of technical re-equipment of protection devices and network operation modes control units, measurements on existing schemes reconstruction.

  • Metropoliya Group elaborated a feasibility study considering measures to optimize Kyivstar’s expenses on electricity. The research resulted in the organizational (switch to the supply under unregulated tariff) and technical (development and implementation of Automated System for Commercial Metering of Electricity) measures verification, which will enable Kyivstar to reduce its expenses on electricity.

  • Metropoliya Group provided technical support to facilitate Ukrainian electricity export to Belarus and Lithuania.
    Therefore, Metropoliya Group performed the following activity:
    • full range estimations of Ukrainian, Belarusian, and Lithuanian power systems’ operating modes;
    • evaluation of losses fluctuations in power systems under various electricity export scenarios from Ukraine to Belarus and Lithuania;
    • advising on methods to calculate the power loss when exporting electricity;
    • elaborating recommendations to optimize expenses caused by power losses in Belarusian power grid when exporting Ukrainian electricity to Belarus and Lithuania.

National Electricity Regulatory Commission of Ukraine

  • Metropoliya Group was a member of a consortium which has ensured implementation of an international project in Ukraine: "Assistance to the National Energy Regulatory Commission of Ukraine: Regulatory Support Program" financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The Consortium of consultants includes representatives of the following companies: AF-Mercados (Spain), Ramboll (Denmark), and Exergia (Greece).
    Under this project Metropoliya Group executes the following tasks:
    • analysis of the effective legal framework of Ukraine for renewable energy sources;
    • development of amendments to the effective legislation with the aim to promote economically reasonable development of renewable energy sources;
    • development of technical requirements for connection of alternative energy sources to the power system of Ukraine, determination of the connection criteria.

Energy Farm AS

  • Under this project of development promotion of renewable energy sources in Ukraine Metropoliya Group has developed the pre-feasibility study for construction of 25 MW CHPP-unit, fed by plant biomass, in order to sell the produced electricity at the feeding tariff on the territory of Ukraine. This report has shown the project feasibility in Ukraine, defined the technology and the necessary equipment, the basic financial and economic attractiveness.

  • Metropoliya Group developed the evaluation of the investments into alternative energy sector of Ukraine profitability, in particular by performing the pre-designing works (about 10 activities) for potential WPP and SPP location sites in several regions of Ukraine and developed the estimated costs and project schedules.

  • Metropoliya Group conducted a scientific research "Development of Programme to Harmonize Normative and Technical Requirements of European Union regarding Use of Systems, including Transmission Issues, Cross-Border Connection, Modulation, and General Security Standards of Technical Systems (Standards of European Committee for Standardization (CEN), European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), and Union for the Co-ordination of Transmission of Electricity (UCTE (ENTSO-e))".
